Coronavirus public information
A coronavirus is a type of virus. Typical symptoms include fever, a cough that may progress to a severe pneumonia causing shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
Generally, coronavirus can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.
Novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Wuhan City, China. This is a rapidly evolving situation which is being monitored carefully.

We have recently appointed Alison Jessiman to the new role of Pharmacy Technician. She works along side Susie as part of our new in house Pharmacotherapy Team. She works Tuesday to Friday. Alison is already well known to our patients having worked here as a Receptionist/Administrator for over 10 years. Alison's previous line of work was as a Pharmacy Technician in a Community Pharmacy in Thurso and successfully completed her re-registration to take up the role. We are all delighted for her.
Primary Care Clinical Pharmacist
Susie Wise is our in-house Pharmacist and works Mondays to Thursdays each week. Her role is part of the wider Pharmacotherapy service. She will lead and co-ordinate delivery of our pharmacy service and has over 18 years pharmacy experience in the community setting. Susie was most recently providing pharmacy locum services in Thurso.
Travel Advice and Vaccinations
We have reviewed and updated our patient travel advice and vaccination approach in consultation with our Patient Group.
In line with NHS guidelines we are now charging for some aspects of our travel vaccination administration. We have also introduced a new travel form for patients to complete first before seeing a Nurse. You can complete our new travel form on line or completing a hard copy/paper version.

Advanced Physiotherapist Practitioner
Mike Flavell is now in post at an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner. His job role is shared between Riverbank, Thurso and Riverview in Wick. We have Mike with us on a Tuesday and Thursday each week and he will have 20 minute appointments to assess and treat patients. Click on this link to see the sort of ailments Mike can help with. General Data Protection Regulation
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May 2018, superseding the current Data Protection Act (1998).
Under the terms of the new GDPR Riverbank Medical Practice has a legal duty to explain to patients by means of a privacy notice what personal dad is held about them and how it is collected.
